Newly appointed UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Represenative in DPR KoreaJun 16, 2015
Mr. Tapan Mishra (India) arrived on Friday 12 June 2015 to take up his appointment as UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Mr. Tapan Mishra presented his credentials to His Excellency Ri Su Yong, DPRK Minister of Foreign Affairs on Monday 15 June 2015.
Before this appointment (from January 2015), Mr. Tapan Mishra was Senior Advisor to the Director and Deputy Director, Bureau for Policy and Programme Support in New York. During 2013-2014 he served as Senior Advisor with Business Solutions Exchange in the Bureau of Management and Human Development Report Office. From 2007-2013 he was Chief, Learning Resources Centre (LRC) with the Office of Human Resources (OHR). His career with UNDP began in 2003 when he was OHR’s Learning Advisor and Deputy Chief of the LRC. Prior to joining UNDP, Tapan worked in his home country with several organizations. He was Vice President of Grow Talent Company Limited based in Mumbai and a Faculty Member of Infosys Leadership Institute in Mysore (2001-2002). Tapan began his career in 1984 as a Human Resource professional in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), where he was the Head of Industrial Relations of the Northern Region in India. He then became the All India Training Manager and finally an Internal Coach for Organizational Learning and Change Management. He was also active in academia through teaching HR Management at leading institutions in India, such as the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and at Columbia University, School for International and Public Affairs, USA.
Mr. Tapan Mishra holds a B.Sc. (Hons) from St. Columba’s College, India and a Post Graduate Honors Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Xavier School of Management, India.
